| Provider choice question | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Which regions are available? | Latency, customer geography and data-location requirements. |
| How predictable is usage? | Pricing and resource models differ across providers. |
| How large can the workload grow? | Future server sizes can matter more than the smallest plan. |
| Do you need to downsize easily? | Scaling behavior can vary by underlying provider. |
| Is the provider itself a requirement? | Some teams standardize on AWS/GCP for procurement or architecture reasons. |
Start with region and resource shape
Choose a region close to the audience and a server class that matches the application's CPU and RAM profile. Then compare provider pricing and scaling rules. A cheaper small instance is not automatically cheaper if you need to move providers or oversize resources later.
Cloudways manages the layer above
Regardless of the provider, Cloudways remains the managed platform relationship. That is different from buying the same infrastructure directly, where you own more of the operating-system and hosting administration.
